  • 1 2/3 cups of buttermilk(room temperature)
  • 1 medium egg (room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 cup of water

Step 1: In the food processor, add flour and cinnamon in a bowl, and pulse until the mixture looks like powder.

Step 2: Place sugar, butter, and vanilla extract in the food processor. Process until well combined.

Step 3: Gradually add flour and cinnamon powder to the sugar mixture in the food processor. Process until well combined.

Step 4: Add egg, buttermilk, and water in a bowl and whisk. Add to the flour mixture and combine using a spatula. Do not mix too much to get a smooth batter that will not break when you transfer the batter to your cake pan.

Step 5: Pour batter into a cake pan. Bake at 350F for 1 hour or until the center of your cake is set.

Step 6: Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack before icing.

Step 7: Place butter in a mixing bowl, add cinnamon powder and beat until fluffy.  Add icing sugar and beat until smooth and fluffy.
