Ingredients:

For The Cake:

  • 1 ½ Cup Flour
  • 1/2 Cup Sugar
  • 2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 2 Eggs (beaten)
  • ½ Cup Milk
  • ½ Cup Vegetable Oil or Butter (melted)
  • 1 tbsp Vanilla Extract (optional)

For The Frosting:

  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 2 Cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract (optional)
  • 1-2 tbsp milk

Preparation:

For The Cake:

Step 1: Preheat oven to 350F. Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan. You can also use a spring form pan instead of the cake pan.

Step 2: In a large bowl, using a fork, mix melted butter and sugar until they are smooth with no lumps.

Step 3: Add egg into the mixture one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

Step 4: Mix all the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, and salt) in another bowl. Slowly add the dry ingredients into the bowl with the wet mixture, and mix until all the ingredients are well combined.

Step 5: Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for about 10-12 minutes (until cake is golden brown and the toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean). You will want to use a toothpick to test for doneness, as you can overcook this cake.

Step 6: Let cool and remove from pan.

For The Frosting:

Step 1: In a large bowl, using a fork, beat the butter until it is light and fluffy. Slowly add in the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until you get the consistency you like. The frosting should be thick but smooth so that it doesn’t get too complicated when refrigerated.

Step 2: Add more milk if needed until you get the desired consistency for your frosting.

Step 3: Spread on the cake using a butter knife or spatula to cover the entire cake surface (I used two spoons).

Why Called It One Bowl Vanilla Cake?

It is called one bowl vanilla cake recipe because all the ingredients come together in one bowl. No need to switch between two bowls. Mix everything in one bowl and then pour it into the oven.

When making this cake, using a spoon instead of a spatula is an excellent idea. It helps to scrape the bowl’s sides to ensure that all the ingredients are mixed well with no lumps.

What Is The One Bowl Method Of Making A Cake?

In this cake-making method, all the ingredients go into one bowl. You can beat the sugar and butter together with a fork until it is smooth with no lumps.

Add in the beaten eggs one at a time. After beating in all the ingredients, add the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, and salt) and mix until everything is well combined. Pour into prepared pan and bake as usual (350F for 10-12 minutes).

Which Ingredient Makes Cake Soft And Fluffy?

The secret ingredient that makes a cake soft and fluffy is soft butter. It has tiny air pockets when beaten using a fork.

Those tiny air pockets are essential in making a moist and delicious cake.

Can I Freeze This Cake?

Yes, you can freeze this cake. It will not freeze hard like ice cream or a popsicle (which is what I wanted it to do).

So, the texture may differ after you take the cake out of the freezer.

You may want to heat the cake in the oven before you serve it, just so that it gets heated and soft again.

Conclusion

This one bowl vanilla cake recipe is delicious. It’s not hard to make, and the ingredients are easy to find.

It’s also an ideal recipe if you’re making this cake for kids because there is no need for an oven.

The one bowl of vanilla cake is my mom’s recipe for a vanilla cake, and it is what I use when I need a quick and easy vanilla cake.
