How To Prepare Small Chocolate Cake Recipe?

Preparation Time: 30 Minutes

Cook Time: 20 Minutes

Total Time: 50 Minutes

Serving Size: 12

Equipment:

  • 3-inch Silicone Baking Mold
  • Large Mixing Bowl
  • Fine Mesh Sieve
  • 9-inch Square Cake Pan

Ingredients Small Chocolate Cake Recipe:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 Tbsp cocoa powder (unsweetened)
  • 1 cup sugar (light or dark)
  • 3/4 cup plus 1 Tbsp canola oil (you can use vegetable oil as well)
  • 2 large eggs,
  • I used 3 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup buttermilk (you can use non-fat yoghurt, too)
  • 3/4 cup chocolate morsels (see notes)

Directions For Small Chocolate Cake Recipe:

Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350 F. Generously spray a 9-inch square baking pan with baking spray and dust it with cocoa powder, tapping out any excess.

Step 2: Place all the dry ingredients in a large bowl and whisk them together to distribute the cocoa evenly.

Step 3: Place the wet ingredients in another bowl and use an electric mixer to beat them until well mixed.

Step 4: Add the dry and wet ingredients and beat until well incorporated.

Step 5: Pour the cake batter into a greased baking pan, then top with chocolate morsels.

Step 6: Bake the cake at 350 F for 20 minutes until the top is firm and springs back when gently pressed. Let the cake cool in the pan for an hour. Then cut into 12 pieces, top each with a dollop of whipped cream and serve.

Notes: Find chocolate morsels at supermarkets and speciality stores such as Target, Whole Foods, etc. They are tasty and meltable (but not too much).

You can also find morsels in bulk bins in some grocery stores. We like to crack them into small pieces so they’ll melt faster. You can also use milk chocolate but make sure they’re not too sweet!
