Ingredients For Chocolate And Vanilla Cake Recipe:

For Cake:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup butter (1 stick) or margarine, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Chocolate Frosting:

  • 2 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter (1/4 stick) softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make Chocolate And Vanilla Cake Recipe

Step 1: Preheat oven to 325F and grease the baking pan with cooking spray.

Step 2: In a medium bowl, mix the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.

Step 3: Beat the butter in a medium bowl with electric beaters until light and fluffy.

Step 4: Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Blend in vanilla extract.

Step 5: Gradually beat in the flour mixture, beginning and ending with dry ingredients, beating until very smooth.

Step 6: Spread batter into prepared pan and bake for 25 – 30 minutes or until toothpick insert comes out clean.

Step 7: Let the cake cool in a pan for 10 minutes before removing it to a rack to cool completely.

Step 8: Cut it into two layers once the cake is completely cooled.

Step 9: Frost the top of the bottom layer with chocolate frosting and place it on a serving plate.

Step 10: Frost the remaining layer and place it on top of the first layer.

Step 11: To make chocolate frosting, cream 2 ½ cups powdered sugar with butter until fluffy. Stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Spread them onto your cake or cupcakes after they cool down.

Notes: You can use other ingredients in this recipe to make the cake more interesting, such as adding ginger or coconut extract. You can add chopped nuts to the batter, such as almonds or pecans.
