For Cake:

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3/4 cup salted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • One teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • Five large eggs at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup light cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • One teaspoon salt

  • 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate (chips or other), melted
  • Three tablespoons vegetable oil

How To Make Chilis Molten Lava Cake Recipe

Step 1: Preheat oven to 375°F

Step 2: Sift flour, salt, baking powder, and cocoa powder in a mixing bowl.

Step 3: In another large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time to creamed mixture beating well after each addition. Beat in vanilla extract.

Step 4: Add half of the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and beat well to combine. Add the milk and beat again until just combined. Add the remaining flour mixture and beat until all ingredients are well blended.

Step 5: Transfer the batter to the 8-inch buttered square pan. Bake for 35 minutes or until the top has begun to crack and is slightly browned. Remove from oven and set aside to cool completely.

Step 6: Meanwhile, make the chocolate topping in a microwave using a medium saucepan. Place 1 cup of chocolate chips in a medium saucepan with oil

and heat on low temperature until melted. Stir every 30 seconds until melted. Set aside to cool completely.

Step 7: When the cake has cooled, gently remove it from the pan using the sides of the baking tray.

Place on a flat surface and spread 1/2 cup of chocolate topping over the warm cake. Allow the chocolate to cool completely before serving.
